Developing and producing new plays by, for and about under represented voices.
Set in 1940s Norway, and based on a true story, Trolls and Men tells the inspiring story of Julius Thoreson, the artistic director of the Trondheim Transformational Theater. When the Nazis invade his country, Thoresen decides to resist fascist rule through the continued operation of his theater. Assisted by his daughter, Astrid, and fellow actors, he mounts a satirical version of Peer Gynt, thwarts another production by a German theater troupe and resists every attempt at Nazi control. A childhood friend and committed fascist, Oscar Lang, warns Julius of the dangers of resistance, but Thoresen insists he cannot give in. The German occupiers, fearful of Thoresen’s opposition, eventually arrest and execute him, but his death inspires and emboldens Norwegian audiences. As the play ends, Astrid escapes to Sweden determined to honor his sacrifice by continuing his struggle for freedom.
TRANSFORMING HEARTS & MINDS ONE PRODUCTION AT A TIME
This April, we’re celebrating a special milestone: another year of bringing bold, original, and socially relevant plays to the stage!
At Transformation Theatre (TT), we believe in amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering meaningful conversations through the power of theatre. Over the past year, our online readings and productions have highlighted new stories that challenge perspectives and connect communities. Now, we’re ready to grow — expanding from 4 to 6-8 readings per year to support even more emerging playwrights and theatre artists.
To make this happen, we need your support! Our 6th Anniversary Fundraiser is officially live, and every contribution helps us bring more diverse stories to life.

Transformation Theatre, inc's stand on Anti- Racism
Anti-Racism
Transformation Theatre, Inc shall stand united in fighting to dismantle the systemic racism upon which our American lives are built. We shall use our platform to amplify voices that need to be heard and to recommit ourselves to the inclusion of all people in our organization. Our mission is to tell stories of those who are underrepresented. That mission is now stronger than ever. We remain ever more vigilant in our support of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and everyone who is disenfranchised. We stand with our black brothers and sisters, our LGBTQ+ family and allies and everyone who has a voice that needs to be heard above the noise. We believe in action, not just words. Our practice in our first year contained plays that featured BIPOC and many others who are often unheard. In our second year we shall be even more focused on our mission of inclusion and diversity. In our technologically advanced world, we shall extend our outreach worldwide to all who need to be heard.
